If you're reading this, welcome. This is the first real post on our forums, so I figured I'd walk through what we've built so far and be honest about where we're at.

Quick backstory. I started Gun Rack because I got tired of watching small FFL dealers get priced out of visibility by aggregator sites charging hundreds a month plus per-click fees on top. The little guys just couldn't compete, and buyers ended up seeing the same handful of chains everywhere they looked. That's not a marketplace. That's an ad platform pretending to be one. We also noticed that every firearms price aggregator site out there was Pay the fee> Email your feed> wait to see if your name shows up on the price comparison list. I wanted a more modern and automated approach rather than the old ancient way. Most price aggregators also only allow XML feeds so that made it difficult for people on different software whom would have to switch their entire business up to be able to list their feeds, we allow XML,JSON and CSV manual uploads. We also have unmatched UPC's for dealers to see what items aren't being listed on our website (no other price aggregator has this feature either).

We're doing it different. Flat monthly rate for dealers, no per-click charges, full visibility into what's live and what isn't. Buyers get real comparison across every dealer, not just the ones with the biggest ad budget.

We're officially in beta, so some things will be rough. Products might land in the wrong category. A dealer's listing might not show up because the UPC didn't match our catalog yet. Some pages are still ugly. But the core is up and running, and here's what actually works today.

Compare prices, not sticker prices

Hit the catalog and search anything — by UPC, MPN, or name. Product pages show every dealer currently listing that item, sorted by total delivered cost. Not just sticker price. Because a $499 rifle with $30 shipping costs more than a $509 rifle with free shipping, and I'm tired of sites that don't tell you that up front.

Set price alerts, walk away

Found something you want but the price isn't quite there? Hit "Set Price Alert" on any product page, enter your target, and forget about it. The second a dealer drops below your number, you get an email, and a website alert. No more refreshing pages for two weeks straight.

Loadouts

Probably the feature I'm proudest of. The Loadout Builder lets you assemble a complete setup. Rifle, optic, light, sling, ammo, or whatever with live component pricing pulled from real dealers. See the actual total build cost. Save it, share it, get feedback. Post yours in the Loadout Discussion forum and let people tell you what they'd change.

Community deals feed

The homepage deals feed surfaces real deals as they hit. Some are posted automatically when our system catches a lowest-ever price or significant markdown (that's the "Auto Deals" user you'll see). More will come from community members once we've got a critical mass of you out there hunting. Vote them up, comment, share the good ones.

FFL Locator

The FFL locator shows verified transfer dealers near your ZIP code. Pick one when you're checking out on the seller's site. ( You can also see the FFL locator on the price comparison table as a popup)

Bill Tracker

Firearms law changes fast, and half the time you find out too late. The Bill Tracker is live-updated with pending state and federal legislation. See what's on the table, who's sponsoring it, and where it stands. Discussion happens in the On Watch forums.

State ban check

Not sure if you can even ship a product to your state? The state lookup tool tells you before you get to checkout. Magazine caps, feature bans, roster requirements, waiting periods, all in one spot. You can also see whats available in your state, say you want to see what rugers are available in your state to buy you can do this as well.

Being straight with you about what's not working yet

• Categories are still being tuned. If a shotgun shows up in Handguns, that's on us. Report it in Bug Report or click the report button on the item itself and we'll fix it.

• The community deals feed is thinner than it'll be, more dealers coming online means more real deals surfacing.

• Some dealer listings aren't visible because their UPCs haven't matched our catalog yet. Dealers can see their unmatched UPCs in their dashboard. Buyers, you just see less inventory until we get them matched.

• A mobile app and browser extension are on the roadmap but not built yet.

How you can help

Post in the forums. Even if it's just an intro in Roll Call or a photo of your setup in Show Off Your Safe.

Report bugs when you find them. Post suggestions in Suggestion Box. Tell us what you'd want us to build next. This is being built by a small team and the roadmap gets driven by what you tell us matters.
